Monthly Update: February 2015

It's that time of the month again! A few days late but here's my second monthly update in 2015. What a month it was. Stock markets were on a tear, especially in Europe. The Dutch AEX index increased over 8%! My dividend portfolio did not increase as much but it still ended above € 24.000 which is obviously not chump change.

All in all a hectic month. However, since I am in it for the long haul I am not too interested in these daily or monthly fluctuations. What matters is that I keep focused on buying high quality companies which provide me with a steady stream of growing dividends.

Purchases
None. I think I have enough funds available for a purchase at the end of this month.

Dividends received
Three separate companies paid me dividends during this month.
  • DE: 18 shares @ $0.60 for a total of $10.80
  • OHI: 59 shares @ $0.52 for a total of $31.27
  • KMI: 48 shares @ $0.45 for a total of $21.60
Total: around €48 after tax which is 100% more than last year. In absolute terms it's not a really big amount but it shows the progress I've made in 12 months. I expect next month to see a really big month in termsof dividend income!

Dividend increases
Both OHI and KMI increased their quarterly dividend by a penny which is becoming a rather nice tradition for these companies.  Their yields are quite respectable all by itself but combined with a 8% annual increase is awesome!

Yearly forward dividend
My 12-month forward dividend rate is now €972, compared to €900 last month. This is quite a big increase since I did not contribute any money. I've gotten a few small dividend raises but the rest comes from a cheaper Euro. However, since I am not exchanging USD dividend to EUR this does not mean anything in economic terms for me. I reinvest USD in USD-listed companies so this increase in dividend income is purely cosmetic for now.

Seeking Alpha articles
In the past month I did not write any articles on Seeking Alpha. I tried to sit down a few times but had difficulties writing everytime. I am searching for some new topics to investigate and write about so if any of you have some nice ideas, let me know!

How was your month? What are your plans for the coming month? Which companies are you looking at to add to your portfolio?

  1. Congrats on the dividend income, Robin. KMI and OHI are two of my biggest payers and love the second month of the quarter!

  2. Great job! You doubled your dividend income YoY which is fantastic! Dividend increases sure are nice and I just became a fellow owner of OHI. Those $0.01 increases quarter after quarter are awesome from both KMI and OHI.
