Monthly Update: June 2014

The month has passed and it's my favorite time, giving an update of my dividend portfolio. I've updated my benchmarks to include the total return indices, instead of only the stockprice indices. This seems like a better comparison.

IndicatorAs of 31-5As of 30-6% change
S&P 500 Total Return3.4743.549+2.2%
Dow Jones Industrials Total Return32.98133.264+0.9%
AEX GR1.1781.194+1.4%
USD.EUR0,73480,7310-0.5%
Portfolio value€ 18.099 € 18.404 +1.7%

The Dutch market surged upwards, as did the American markets . USD.EUR lost slightly which made my dollar listed equities less valuable. And what did my portfolio do? It gained 1.7% which is great. Even though I am focused on dividend income and growth, It's always nice to see portfolio value increase. However, it seems to get harder to find fairly valued stocks.

  • AFL: 28 shares @ $61.45. This purchase adds 30 to my annual dividend income. Read about my reasons to buy Aflac here.

Yearly forward dividend
My 12-month forward dividend rate is now €671, compared to €641 last month. This increase is due to my purchase of Aflac this month.

How was your month? What are your plans for the coming month? Keep plowing your money into the stock market or maintain a cash position to use when the markets move downward?

  1. Always great to see a fellow dutchman post his update on dividend investing! I like that you keeped Intel through this hard time for the company. I also own Intel because I know this company will turn around and return to dividend growth soon, besides that I have a nice paper capital gain on the company (+54%).

Keep going in this hard market!
