Monthly update: February 2014

The month has passed and it's my favorite time, giving an update of my dividend portfolio. I haven't done anything this month in terms of buying or selling stocks. I might be able to come up with new funds to invest in a new company next month! So how did the last month go?

Indicator
As of 31-1As of 28-2% change
S&P 5001.7831.859+4.3%
Dow Jones Industrial Average15.69916.322+4.0%
AEX387399+3.0%
USD.EUR0.74180.7234-2.5%
Portfolio value€ 14.415€ 14.554+1.0%

Markets were up across the board! However, USD.EUR declined alongside rising stock prices. Considering the majority of my portfolio is listed in US dollars, it didn't advance with numbers as seen in US markets.

Purchases
  • No new purchases.
Dividends received
  • DE: 18 shares @ $0.51 for a total of $9.18
  • OHI: 59 shares @ $0.49 for a total of $28.91
Total: around $38(~ €24 after tax)

Dividend increases / decreases
  • KO raised its quarterly dividend payment with $0.025 to $0.305 per share, an increase of 10%. This raise adds almost $4 to my yearly dividend income.
  • WMT raised its quarterly dividend payment with $0.01 to $0.48 per share, an increase of 2%. This raise adds less than $1 to my yearly dividend income. This raise was a little disappointing, we'll have to see how this pans out.
  • Accell Group declared a dividend of €0.55 per share, a decrease of 26% compared to last year. Accell is a relatively small position and only pays dividends once a year. Revenue has grown last year and I really like their business model (selling bicycles!). I'll hold on to the shares for now.
Yearly forward dividend
My 12-month forward dividend rate is now €563, compared to €570 last month. The dividend raises by KO and WMT were offset by the dividend decrease from Accell and a decline in the USD.EUR rate.

How was your month? What are your plans for the coming month?

  1. Still a solid month! I was also a bit disappointed by WMT's $0.01 increase. I know that 2013, especially 4Q, was pretty rough but there's plenty of room in their cash flow to support a bit larger increase. Since WMT announces the dividends for all 4 payouts I don't really expect a mid year bump if things improve but next years increase better be at least 10%. Another $0.01 increase and I'll be getting worried.

    1. Hiya PIP, thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy with work the last few days.

WMT's dividend raise was a disappointment, however I will just hold on to my shares for now. We'll see what happens next year!
